WHAT I THINK OF MTV’S NEW SERIES “BUCKWILD”

The latest series to hit the MTV pool of reality shows is the Southern daredevil series, Buckwild. Imagine “The Hills” with lots and lots of mud and dirt. This has to be the most ratchet experience I have ever had watching MTV, but I liked it.
The show introduces us to a very interesting set of characters. The one who steals all the attention is the deep Southern accented, Shain, who is the show’s most adventurous character. Jumping off a bridge into some skanky ass water shows a dedication to just being willing to do anything, I mean anything. Shain has a very endearing quality to him that gives the audience enough energy to care about him as a person.
Anna, who MTV describes as a wild child at heart, is the most irrational. It’s just the first episode and already she gets into a scuffle with one of her neighbors. However, that neighbor did seem to be overreacting. Maybe editing didn’t show how loud they were, and I assume these young people were LOUD!!! The only issue was that Anna did not win the fight. She beat up herself, and it look like she was crying. She just embarrassed herself. I could understand her being mad at Cara for having sex with Tyler in her bed. That is disrespectful, but in reality TV always confront the person about the issue first, before you go babbling to all your other friends about what your one friend did. So, what they already knew, but don’t make it a topic, this way you won’t look like a gossip. Personally, I think she wishes she was with Tyler. Just Saying.
Shae, the spicy southern bell, is not as relevant as she thinks she is in this show, so far. I think some relationship stuff gives her a story line in future episodes. This is not an every week review y’all. Please believe me.
Ashley, sidekick.
Joey, Shain’s best friend, is the sidekick also. However, it looks like he may develop some things in future episodes.
Cara, is the girl who every guy on this show seems to want. First, Shain was having a really cute moment with her, then Tyler tells him he is going after her, and he just acts as if it’s all good. I was confused by this, or does Shain not know that this is breaking the friendship code. Are we trying to portray Shain as dumb, MTV? Back to Cara, she doesn’t seem like a loyal friend. She left the other girls at the club, without letting them know anything and she had sex in her friend’s bed. I don’t know if this someone I would want staying with me. I don’t think she will stay with Tyler. I’m sure she will find a way to leave him for someone else. I could be wrong. My guess? I’m not.
Salwa and Katie, nothing special about you all yet. I imagine Salwa will have more story lines than Katie. We will have to just watch and see.
There were excessive stunts, but it all seemed like fun for people who obviously don’t have anything else to do. I’m sure a lot of these action clips were coerced for TV, that I’m sure. They must have jobs. I’m sure this is not their everyday life. However, I am sure it’s something they do often. The personalities provide a different outlook on people who live in those kind of areas. It may be a little much for the overly sophisticated viewers, but it’s a depiction of the fun times these young people are having, in an area I would never want to be. Trust me. Buckwild kept me laughing and it kept me entertained. So, this was a good start for, a new show being added to my DVR list.
